Hongqi Guoyue

In the Netherlands, you mainly know the Chinese Hongqi from the electric E-HS9 and you may know the brand from the Chinese state limos. It is now expanding its portfolio with a very different model. This is the Hongqi Guoyue, a luxurious bus with 23 seats and a blown V6.

Hongqi only offers one model in the Netherlands, the electric e-HS9, but the brand’s model range is enormous in its home country of China. The brand supplies state limousines that Chinese private individuals are not even allowed to buy and also has a huge arsenal of electric and non-electric sedans, crossovers and even MPVs on the menu. It now comes with the Guoyue, a real bus, but quite luxurious.

The Hongqi Guoyue is a 7.3 meter long, 2.09 meter wide and 2.79 meter high bus that can accommodate 17, 19 or 23 passengers. It is of course not a regular passenger car, but a luxurious bus that has one task in life: taking many passengers from A to B as comfortably as possible. The variant with 17 seats is the most spacious of the bunch and has tables and a refrigerator on board. The Hongqi Guoyue has a 292 hp strong blown 3.0 V6, a machine that sends 420 Nm to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. That torque already gives it away: this is not a diesel, but a petrol engine!

Relevant for the Dutch car market? Absolutely not. You might even wonder what this bus news is doing on a car site. Still, we didn’t want to deprive you of this trip to Hongqi. Information that you can hide deep in the dark corner of your car brain. That is also AutoWeek.
