How to Look Up Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on an iPhone

When you connect to wifi on your iPhone, the password is saved. Handy, because your iPhone will then connect automatically and you will never have to enter the password again.

Sometimes you still need the password, for example to connect another device to the wireless network. But it can also be useful to pass the string on to your friends or colleagues when they also want to log in to WiFi.

But if you don’t remember the password, it is very annoying. Fortunately, you can easily retrieve saved WiFi passwords from your Apple device. You do this in the following way.

How to Lookup and Retrieve WiFi Password on iPhone

  1. Open ‘Settings’ and tap on ‘Wi-Fi’;

  2. Find the network you are currently connected to in the list;

  3. Tap the information icon behind it (the blue ‘i’ in a circle);

  4. Tap ‘Password’;

  5. Log in with Face ID or Touch ID (or enter your passcode);

  6. The password will appear on the screen.

Look up passwords for other known WiFi networks on your iPhone

Do you want to find out a WiFi password that you are not currently connected to? That is also possible! Then you must follow the steps below.

  • Tap ‘Settings > WiFi’;
  • Go to ‘Change’ at the top right;
  • Log in with Face ID or Touch ID (or your passcode);
  • Tap the information icon next to the WiFi network for which you want to look up the password;
  • Tap ‘Password’;
  • The password appears on the screen.
