For a long time, your position was indicated by a blue arrow while navigating in Google Maps. Not only do they look a lot more realistic, you You can also adjust its color.
The five new cars in Google Maps are an SUV, a sedan, a hatchback, a Jeep and a kind of Tesla. The five new cars are available in eight different colours, namely Glacier White (the standard colour), Night Black, Ash Grey, Poppy Red, Sky Blue, Sunny Yellow, Aqua Green and Evening Red. You change the vehicle icon by tapping the blue arrow (or the red, green or yellow car) while navigating.
Old vehicle icons remain
The original blue arrow and older vehicle icons remain available alongside the new versions. However, adjusting the colors is only supported by the new virtual cars. You cannot adjust the color of the red sedan, the green pick-up and the yellow SUV. The arrow is also still only available in blue.
Surprisingly, you can currently only customize the car in Google Maps on iPhones and not yet on Android devices. But since Google uses mostly the same features for both versions of Maps, we expect them to arrive on Android soon as well.
