iOS 14.6 reveals: Apple Music will soon receive a HiFi subscription

iOS 14.5 is just available for download, but the first beta of iOS 14.6 has already started. This trial version reveals that Apple will soon announce a HiFi subscription for Apple Music to enjoy better music quality.

iOS 14.6 reveals the arrival of Apple Music HiFi subscription

9to5Mac discovered all kinds of references to the arrival of the new subscription in the source code of iOS 14.6. For example, in the test version, terms such as “Dolby Atmos”, “Dolby Audio” and “Losless” are frequently mentioned. These all refer to the common standards to indicate the (high) quality of audio.

In addition, wrote Hits Daily Double, a music website, last week that Apple Music HiFi will be presented in ‘the coming weeks’. The site believes that the package will be just as expensive as the current Apple Music subscription of ten euros per month.

That amount is striking, because the HiFi subscription is more expensive with other streaming services. For example, Spotify HiFi, announced in February, costs between $ 5 and $ 10 more than a regular subscription. Spotify HiFi is not yet available in the Netherlands.

Rumor: AirPods 3 is coming

Furthermore, Hits Daily Double claims that the AirPods 3 will not be long in coming. Apple would announce the upgrade for the unprecedentedly popular earplugs at the same time as Apple Music HiFi.

However, take this rumor with a grain of salt. Hits Daily Double is not a household name in the Apple rumor circuit. The website also does not disclose the source of the rumor.

The benefits of HiFi music

The advantage of the so-called lossles music is that there is no compression to keep the audio files small. Almost all streaming services make songs smaller so that you use less data. This does reduce the sound quality, while HiFi music sounds like you are turning on a CD.

Competitors of Apple Music have already found the way to higher sound quality. Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz and Amazon Music, among others, already offer packages with higher audio quality.
