iOS 15.5 RC and iPadOS 15.5 RC now available: release nigh

The RC (release candidate build) is the last version of a major release. Apple has now made the RC version of iOS 15.5 available to developers and public testers. That means you can start downloading iOS 15.5 soon. iPhoned tells you when.

iOS 15.5 RC

Looking at the RC version, it looks like iOS 15.5 is going to be another minor update. In the source code, among other things, indications were found for a separate app for classical music. This genre will have its own icon and will therefore no longer fall under Apple Music. Apple is likely to release “Apple Classical” sometime in the future, but it’s not yet available in the iOS 15.5 RC.

What’s new?

Apple mainly works on bug fixes and performance improvements in iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5. However, new features are on the way. Apple is making some minor changes to the Wallet app and Apple Cash.

Additionally, the SportsKit framework has resurfaced. It also seems that Apple Pay in iOS 15.5 will support the Belgian Bancontact. Apple did indicate that not all features are available in all countries.

In addition, it is striking that Apple has adjusted a few things in the Photos app. These changes affect the ‘Lookbacks’. These are the short slideshows that your iPhone automatically creates of certain locations or people.

It seems that Apple is going to ban certain locations from the Memories. These are currently all locations related to the Holocaust, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Anne Frank House and the Schindler Factory.
