Apple is releasing another update for your iPhone! The company has already announced that iOS 18.2 will be released in December. Due to new rumors, we now also know a specific date, because it is expected that the official release of iOS 18.2 will be on Monday December 9 is. Apple usually releases updates in the evening, iOS 18.2 will probably be available at 7 p.m. Dutch time.
The release of iOS 18.2 has been leaked by the British company EE. The English provider has announced that a certain iPhone function will no longer be available from December 9. Wi-Fi calling on available iCloud devices will no longer work for EE customers from December 9. This feature allows you to make calls via WiFi on devices such as your iPad or Mac, even when your iPhone is not nearby.
Features of iOS 18.2
In the second test version of iOS 18.2, EE has already changed the settings, making WiFi calling from other Apple devices no longer possible. According to the company, the feature will be permanently removed on December 9, which most likely has to do with the official release of iOS 18.2. Other users are not affected by EE’s adjustment, as WiFi calling remains available.
iOS 18.2 mainly brings small changes to your iPhone. The AirTag now has a handy function that allows you to share a temporary link if you have lost the device. This should make it easier to find your belongings at, for example, an airline or other companies. In addition, CarPlay will receive new symbols for the release of the next generation of the operating system.
Apple Intelligence is missing
Other minor tweaks in iOS 18.2 include new features for the iPhone 16 camera control and changes to the Photos app. These adjustments are mainly visible when opening videos, the progress bar and the gallery overview then remain visible at the bottom of the screen. In addition, Apple improves the dark symbols of a number of apps in dark mode.
For users in the United States, the release of iOS 18.2 is much more important, because then new features of Apple Intelligence will be released. In the Netherlands and Belgium this will take a while, where Apple Intelligence will not be available until April.
