iOS 18 Beta 8
There’s a new test version of iOS 18 available! Apple has released iOS 18 beta 8 for developers. This is probably the last update before the official release of iOS 18. Apple mainly makes improvements in the new beta. No new features have been discovered in the eighth test version of iOS 18. Apple has already released most of the new features in previous betas.
iOS 18 brings big changes to your iPhone, including more customizability of the Home screen and Control Center. You can now decide where to place apps and controls from iOS 18, whereas you previously had much less freedom. Apple has already implemented these changes and they will not be changed in iOS 18 beta 8. This indicates that Apple is almost ready for the final release of the update.
Release of iOS 18
In addition to iOS 18 beta 8, Apple has also released the sixth public test version of the update. We don’t have to wait much longer for the official release of iOS 18, because the update is expected to appear soon. On monday september 9th Apple presents the iPhone 16. That evening the Release Candidate (RC) of iOS 18, which is the final test version before the real version is released.

The official version of iOS 18 will be released a week later. Apple usually releases the update on a Monday, which means you can monday september 16 can update to iOS 18. You can then immediately get started with a large part of all the new functions, which are already in iOS 18 beta 8. Now the features are still available for developers, but in a few weeks everyone will be able to try them out.
Apple Intelligence coming later
iOS 18 beta 8 already has many new features available, but there are still a number of important features missing. Apple Intelligence will not come to the iPhone until much later, so we will have to wait until iOS 18.1 at least. Apple Intelligence can already be used in the first test versions of iOS 18.1, provided you have an American iCloud account and have set your iPhone to English. The AI functions will probably not come to the Netherlands and Belgium until 2025.
With iOS 18, it will mainly be possible to customize the home and lock screens to your own liking.
