iOS 26.2 Release Candidate 2 is here: when will the final update come?

We expected iOS 26.2 on Monday, December 9, but Apple released iOS 26.2 Release Candidate 2 on that day instead.

iOS 26.2 Release Candidate 2 is out

The first iOS 26.2 Release Candidate appeared on Wednesday, December 3. This is usually the last test version before Apple releases the final update to all users. We expected that final version on Monday, December 8, but Apple released iOS 26.2 Release Candidate 2 on that day instead. This second RC version of iOS 26.2 has 23C54 as the build number. The previous RC was 23C52.

Sending the software to beta testers can sometimes reveal critical bugs that still need to be fixed. That’s probably the main reason Apple released a second Release Candidate version of iOS 26.2 for the iPhone. If the new RC does not cause any new problems, iOS 26.2 will soon be available to all users.

Apple has not made any major changes in this second Release Candidate of iOS 26.2. Instead, the company is focusing on improving the new features coming to your iPhone with iOS 26.2.

Final release

With iOS 26.2, Live Translation via AirPods will finally become available in the European Union, which also gives the AirPods a new function. The AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3 and AirPods 4 (with noise cancellation) will soon be able to translate conversations on the fly. We don’t have to wait long for the next software version, because iOS 26.2 is expected to be released next week. In all likelihood Monday December 15.
