1. Home screen

With iOS 26 you get more options through Liquid Glass when arranging the home screen on your iPhone. For the first time it is possible to opt for transparent symbols with all applications. The icons therefore seem of glass and reflect the background. That is not the only change, because Apple has redesigned all the symbols of the applications. This new design automatically comes to apps from third parties, so that all symbols have the same style.

We also see Liquid Glass in the widgets of iOS 26, because they also get a transparent and transparent design. Do you prefer the design with colored symbols with all applications? In that case you can also opt for a standard view in iOS 26, so that you hold a colored home screen. With the colored display, the new design of all icons in the applications is even better. 2. Control panel

The control panel will again receive a major update in 2025. Since iOS 18 it has finally been possible to add the controllers to the control panel themselves and to determine where you place it. That is still possible in iOS 26, but Apple has given the control panel with Liquid Glass a new look. The controllers and buttons in the control panel seem to be glass and the background remains visible. This is what it looks like:

3. Reporting center

In the reporting center we see similar changes with Liquid Glass in iOS 26. Notifications get a transparent design, behind which the wallpaper or background remains visible. Do you find the reports difficult to read in the new design? In that case you can reduce the transparency of reports under ‘Settings> Accessibility> display and text size> make less transparency’. This is the reporting center in iOS 26:

4. Camera

Apple has given a number of applications a completely new layout, including the camera app. This application has received a design that looks like Visionos, the operating system for the Apple Vision Pro. Liquid Glass from iOS 26 also shines in the camera app, because the menu bar at the bottom of the renewed app is transparent and has completed corners. This is the renewed camera app in iOS 26:

5. Settings

In addition to the camera app, the settings app has also received a new design. The adjusted settings app has a more spatial layout, to which all new symbols of the applications have been added. In addition, a floating transparent search bar has been added, which should make finding certain settings easier. The order of the settings has not been changed, view the renewed application here:

Release of iOS 26

Are you enthusiastic about Liquid Glass in iOS 26? Apple releases the final update in September, when the iPhone 17 series appears. In September all users can get started with the new design of iOS 26. That is by no means the only change in the software version, because there are many new functions to the iPhone. For example, the Apple wallet, messages and the telephone app get handy improvements.

Unfortunately, these improvements do not come to all iPhones, because a number of devices have no support for iOS 26. These models get stuck on iOS 18 and have to do without iOS 26 and Liquid Glass. Do you want to know if your iPhone can update to the next software version in September? Then read here which iPhones have support for iOS 26!
