Apple is announcing a bunch of products tonight, but the iPad mini 2024 probably won’t be released until October. That’s not the only device coming later, we already know this!
iPad mini 2024 coming (again) later
Apple has long been rumored to be releasing a new generation of the iPad mini, but it looks like we’ll have to wait even longer for the tablet. According to usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, the iPad mini 2024 won’t arrive until next month. Apple is now expected to hold another event in October, where it will unveil this year’s new iPads and Macs.
That’s a big change, as it was previously predicted that we would also see new iPads at the iPhone 16 event. That event is tonight, where the 2024 iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods will be announced. The iPad mini 2024 will therefore not be released until October, as will the eleventh generation of the regular iPad. That’s not all, because Apple will also present the new Mac(Book)s next month.
Another event in October
Gurman expects that in addition to the iPad mini 2024, we will also see the new MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac in October. These devices will probably switch to the new M4 chip, which the iPad Pro 2024 already runs on. With the new processor, several functions of Apple Intelligence can run smoothly in the background, because the chip has a lot of processing power. Apple is reportedly making few other changes to the new Macs of 2024.
So the iPad mini 2024 isn’t coming until October, but no official event has been announced yet. That’s not surprising, since the iPhone 16 event has yet to take place. Apple usually sends out invites two weeks in advance, so it’ll be a while before we know more about the iPad and Mac event. Last year, Apple held a digital event on October 30 to announce the MacBook Pro and iMac. This year’s presentation will likely fall around the same time.
Apple Watch may also come later
In addition to the iPad mini 2024, a number of Apple Watches may also not be released until October. Apple was expected to present the Apple Watch SE 2024 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 tonight. According to Gurman, the Apple Watch SE will come next month after all, while the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will not come at all. Instead, Apple will release the second generation of the Apple Watch in a new color.
The iPad mini 2024 won’t be released until October, but there are plenty of devices that Apple will announce tonight. For example, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be released, all of which will support Apple Intelligence.
