Housing

The iPhone 13 Pro has a stainless steel frame. That of the iPhone 17 Pro is made of aluminum. This means that the devices are the same weight (204 g), even though the 17 Pro is larger at 150 x 71.9 x 8.75 mm than the 13 Pro (146.7 x 71.5 x 7.65 mm). The iPhone 13 Pro also has a Lightning connection. The iPhone 17 Pro is equipped with USB C, and also has a Camera control and an Action button.

Screen

Both devices have a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, but only the iPhone 17 Pro is equipped with always-on and the Dynamic Island. The screen of the 17 Pro is also made of stronger glass, which also has an anti-reflective coating. Furthermore, the screen of the iPhone 17 Pro with 3000 nits has a much higher maximum brightness than the iPhone 13 Pro (1200 nits). The screen of the 17 Pro is therefore much easier to read outdoors.

Camera

One of the biggest differences is with the camera. The iPhone 17 Pro has three 48-megapixel cameras, which is a significant improvement compared to the three 12-megapixel cameras on the iPhone 13 Pro. In addition, you can optically zoom in 4x with the iPhone 17 Pro instead of 3x with the iPhone 13 Pro. The front camera of the 17 Pro, with 18 megapixels and Center Stage, is also a lot better than that of the 13 Pro (12 megapixels).

Performance

The differences in performance are also significant. The iPhone 13 Pro runs on an A15 Bionic chip with 6 GB of RAM, which is not enough to support Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 17 Pro, on the other hand, has an A19 Pro chip with 12 GB of RAM. That is more than enough for Apple Intelligence and is certainly a big step forward. The iPhone 17 Pro is therefore much more powerful than the iPhone 13 Pro.

Another part where we encounter a significant difference. The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro is 22 hours of video playback, certainly not bad, but the iPhone 17 Pro adds another 9 hours to 31 hours of video playback. That is also a significant step forward.

Conclusion: iPhone 13 Pro vs iPhone 17 Pro

The iPhone 17 Pro is undoubtedly a much more powerful iPhone than the iPhone 13 Pro. The device is much faster, has much better cameras and a much longer battery life.
