With the approaching release of the iPhone 15 Pro, we now know almost certainly which rumors will and which will not become reality. We put them together for you.
iPhone 15 is about to appear
In a month’s time, Apple will present the iPhone 15 Pro and we already have a good idea of what new features are coming to the phone. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) gets a new action button, so we say goodbye to the familiar one mutebutton. The Lightning port will also disappear, because the iPhone 15 Pro will be the first iPhone with a USB-C connection.
Now that we are so close to the release of the new iPhone 15, we also know which rumors are unlikely to become reality. In recent months, a lot of rumors have surfaced, of which it later turned out that Apple was planning something else. These are the features that are not coming to the iPhone 15 Pro.
1. No new volume rocker
In recent months, everything indicated that the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) would get new buttons. According to rumors, the smartphone received one large volume button, which vibrates when you ‘press’ it. So this was not a real button, but a button that works with Haptic Touch. This would make the iPhone 15 Pro the first iPhone without physical buttons. However, this plan has now been shelved.

The iPhone 15 Pro therefore has to do without the new volume buttons, but the mute switch does get a new function. This switch turns into an action button on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). This button is multifunctional, so you can determine what the button is for in the settings of your iPhone. This is similar to the action button on the Apple Watch Ultra.
2. iPhone 15 Pro won’t get 6GB of RAM
Earlier rumors predicted that the iPhone 15 Pro would get 6GB of RAM, but we now know that this is probably not true. Apple provides the iPhone 15 Pro with more RAM: the device gets 8GB of RAM. It will be the first iPhone with so much RAM, the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) still has to make do with 6GB of RAM.
It is not yet known for which function Apple is expanding the working memory of the iPhone 15 Pro. This is probably related to the new A17 Bionic chip, Apple’s first 3nm chip. With the new chip and 2GB more RAM, the iPhone 15 Pro can probably handle multiple tasks at the same time without any problems. The new phone is so incredibly fast, according to leaked benchmarks.
3. Still waiting for an ultra-wide-angle lens with 48 MP
The camera of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) received a major update, because the standard wide-angle lens is a 48-megapixel camera. Previously this was only 12 MP, so the new camera is much better. This 48-megapixel camera is also reportedly coming to the regular iPhone 15 (Plus) this year. According to rumors, the iPhone 15 Pro would then get an ultra-wide-angle lens of 48 MP.

The ultra-wide-angle lens would then have the same number of megapixels as the standard wide-angle lens, but it seems that Apple is going for a 12-megapixel camera again. We will probably only see the ultra-wide-angle lens with 48 MP in the iPhone 16 Pro. In any case, it is certain that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will get the new periscope lens, with which you can zoom in much better.
This is when the new iPhone 15 Pro comes
In addition, functions such as WiFi 7 and a new Bluetooth chip are not coming to the iPhone 15 Pro. We will probably have to wait another year for these new functions, they will appear with the iPhone 16 Pro. The same applies to the iPhone Ultra, previously there were rumors that Apple would introduce the advanced iPhone 15 Ultra this year. Now it looks like this will be the iPhone 16 Ultra.
