New battery for the iPhone 16
Apple is not only working on a new design for the camera island with the iPhone 16, the battery will also look different. It was already clear that the lenses on the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus are placed differently than we saw on the iPhone 15. The cameras are placed right below each other on the iPhone 16. It now appears that the battery of the iPhone 16 will also look different.

That’s good news, because the battery is rumored to be much larger. This means the battery of the iPhone 16 lasts a lot longer. The iPhone 15 Plus currently has the best battery, after the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This will change with the iPhone 16, because the iPhone 16 Plus will have a much smaller battery. We already know this about the batteries in the new iPhones.
This is how big (or small) the battery becomes
According to new rumors, the battery of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be larger than that of the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Plus in particular stands out, because the battery is no less than 9 percent smaller compared to the iPhone 15 Plus. Nothing has been announced about the iPhone 16 Pro yet. These are the expected specifications of the battery in the new iPhones:

It is not clear why the battery of the iPhone 16 Plus is becoming a lot smaller. Apple may equalize the battery life of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. This means a major improvement, especially for the regular iPhone. Now the iPhone 15 lasts twenty hours on one battery, while the Plus offers up to 26 hours. The iPhone 15 Pro Max already had a battery life of 29 hours and that will be even longer with the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16 gets new chip
The fact that the iPhone 16 Plus has a smaller battery does not necessarily mean a lower battery life. Apple is expected to introduce a new processor with the iPhone 16 series. According to rumors, the iPhone 16 (Plus) runs on the A18 chip, with the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) this is the A18 Pro chip. This processor is probably more energy efficient, which of course also affects the battery life of the device.

In any case, it seems almost certain that you will have to charge the iPhone 16 less often than previous iPhones. Previous rumors also predicted an improved battery, made from the same material as the Apple Watch battery. This should also prevent the iPhone 16 from overheating quickly.
