New features on the iPhone 16
Apple has introduced several features in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The camera island is immediately noticeable, because the lenses are placed directly underneath each other in the iPhone 16. This makes it possible to make spatial videos, which you can later watch in 3D via VR glasses or the Vision Pro. Do you regularly take photos and videos? That is much easier with the new camera controller.
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are the first devices to feature this control. The camera control gives you access to nearly all of the iPhone’s camera features, including opening the Camera app, zooming in and out, focusing, and adjusting exposure with the new button when taking photos and videos. Another bonus: the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have an improved ultra-wide camera.
In addition, the iPhone 16 (Plus) has the action button, which we already saw last year on the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). Apple has also made important changes under the hood, because the iPhone 16 (Plus) runs on the new A18 chip. This means that the smartphone has support for almost all new functions that work with Apple Intelligence. With the new processor, the heaviest tasks are no problem for the iPhone 16 (Plus).
iPhone 16 cases
So the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus have a redesigned camera island and a new camera slider, but that also means bad news. You’ll need a new phone case for this year’s iPhones, because the old cases no longer fit the new phones. A cutout is needed for the camera slider, and the redesigned camera island won’t fit in the iPhone 15 cases.
