You will soon be able to charge the iPhone 16 Pro a lot faster. Unfortunately, you will hardly notice this in practice. This is why.
iPhone 16 Pro can charge much faster…
According to rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will soon be able to charge a lot faster. According to a post on 9To5Mac the iPhone 16 Pro can do that with 20 Watts via MagSafe. With a cable it can be even faster: with 40 Watts.
The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can all charge at 27 watts. Of course, you need a power adapter that supports these speeds. Do you have one? Then you can charge the iPhone to about fifty percent in 30 minutes. With MagSafe, it takes a bit longer, of course.
…but you won’t notice much of that
The iPhone 16 Pro can charge faster thanks to the higher wattage, but in practice you won’t notice much of that. That’s because the iPhone 16 Pro also gets a larger battery than the one in the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 15 battery capacity looks like this:
- iPhone 15: 3,349 mAh
- iPhone 15 Plus: 4,383 mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro: 3,274 mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422 mAh
According to rumors, the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 series is as follows:
- iPhone 16: 3,561 mAh
- iPhone 16 Plus: 4,006 mAh
- iPhone 16 Pro: 3,355 mAh
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,676 mAh
So you see that the battery is bigger in almost every iPhone 16. It is striking that the battery of the iPhone 16 Plus is actually a bit smaller than the one in the iPhone 15 Plus. It remains to be seen whether you will notice anything of that.
