It seems that owners of an iPhone 16 Pro are having major problems with their device. But what is actually going on?

It can be read on several forums that several iPhone 16 Pros are having problems. Including on Reddit and even on the Apple Support Community There are many complaints about the new iPhone. The problems consist of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) freezing and spontaneously restarting.
The problem has been present since the release of the iPhone 16 models in September. And more and more complaints are coming from affected users. The iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates did not resolve the issue.
It is also unknown what the exact cause is. The iPhone 16 Pro issues seem to happen randomly. The iPhone screen then responds very slowly and the iPhone restarts. There are even reports from users where the iPhone restarted while in standby mode.
Some users with the problems have contacted Apple and received a replacement iPhone. But that did not solve the problem, because the new iPhones still had the same issues.
A striking detail: owners of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max in particular complain about this. So it looks like only the Pro models of the iPhone 16 are having issues.
The issues also seem to be very common for some users. There are several reports from iPhone 16 Pro owners who see their device restarting about 10 to 20 times a day. In some cases, it seems that reinstalling the iPhone solves the problem, but via a fresh installation. Restoring a backup from iCloud doesn’t seem to help. So it could be that the problem is in iCloud, but that is not certain.
