The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a new camera that allows you to zoom in further than ever on an iPhone. According to rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro will soon also have this camera with a tetraprism.

We still have some time to wait before the iPhone 16 Pro is released, but the first rumors are now trickling in. According to usually reliable Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo, the successor to the iPhone 15 Pro will receive a nice upgrade for the camera. The iPhone 16 Pro takes over the special camera from the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max both have the best camera of all iPhones at the moment. The night mode is a lot better because it captures more light and details in low-light photos. You can shoot photos in 48 MP ProRAW, but you also have the HEIF option. Also nice: thanks to the LiDAR scanner, you can now take portrait photos in Night mode.
However, the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a bit better than that of the current Pro, because the Max has a new design (under the hood). Apple calls it a ‘tetraprism’ and this gives you a 5x optical zoom. The regular iPhone 15 Pro ‘only’ has to make do with a 3x optical zoom.
The question remains, of course, whether the iPhone 16 Pro Max will soon have an even better camera. If Apple maintains the current trend and gives the Max version the very best camera, there is a good chance that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have an even better camera. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until September 2024 for the final answer and the next iPhone…
