The iPhone 16 has been officially published! Apple has brought a number of functions of the iPhone 15 Pro to the iPhone 16. For example, the phone has an action button, it is possible to take macro photos and the iPhone 16 has support for Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 15 has to do without these functions. These are the most important differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 15!

Housing

Apple has implemented a number of changes in the design of the iPhone 16. The lenses in the camera island are placed right under the new iPhone. With the iPhone 15, the cameras were still diagonally apart. Due to the new layout of the camera island, the iPhone 16 can take spatial photos and videos that can be viewed with the Apple Vision Pro.

On the side of the iPhone 16 we find the action button and the new camera control. With the action button you set yourself which action is being carried out, with the camera control you get access to almost all camera functions. Both buttons are useful additives to the iPhone 16, which are missing on the iPhone 15. The action button was already available at the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), but is therefore no longer an exclusive Pro function.

Screen

Are you afraid of scratches or other damage on the screen? That happens much less quickly with the latest iPhone, because the iPhone 16 has a much stronger screen than the iPhone 15. Apple has a new generation of it Ceramic Shield Released that is twice as strong as the first generation. The display of the iPhone 16 is so much better protected against damage.

Another adjustment can be seen with the minimum brightness of the screen. With the iPhone 15 that is two to four nits, the iPhone 16 has a minimum brightness of only one nit. This brightness is only achieved in extremely dark spaces. Very handy, because the display of the iPhone 15 is still quite fierce in the evening. With the iPhone 16 you have less problems with this.

Camera and audio

The iPhone 16 can take spatial photos and videos, but that is not the only improvement with the camera of the new iPhone. You can now take macro photos with the regular iPhone, while this was previously an exclusive pro function. It is also possible to make videos in macromodus. The iPhone 15 has to do without this feature, making the iPhone 16 much more suitable for taking photos and videos up close.

In addition, the diaphragm has improved with the iPhone 16, which ensures that you take better photos and videos with little light. With the new photographic styles you have much more choice when editing images. Filming videos is done with Dolby Vision, which makes colors look much more realistic. Another advantage: the camera has an anti-reflective layer. As a result, with the iPhone 16 you have fewer problems with reflections than with the iPhone 15.

Apple has also introduced more audio functions with the iPhone 16. When recording videos in the outside air, the new iPhone wind sounds filters better. The iPhone 16 has also been expanded with Audiomix. With this function you can adjust votes in videos after you have recorded the video. You have the choice of three voice profiles: framework,, ” studio and film. With the former, only the voices of the people are taken into account, with film all the voices around you are taken care of. A professional studio effect is copied with studio.

Performance

The iPhone 16 runs on the A18 chip, a completely new processor. With the iPhone 15, Apple opted for the A16 Bionic chip, which we already saw in the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Other important differences under the hood are support for WiFi 7 (WiFi 6 with the iPhone 15) and Ray tracing. Due to the latter function, games work much more smoothly on the iPhone 16 than the iPhone 15.

Another change is the amount of working memory. All versions of the iPhone 16 have 8 GB of RAM, while that is 6 GB with the iPhone 15. In principle, 6 GB is enough for most users, but that will change with the arrival of Apple Intelligence. With 8 GB of memory, the iPhone 16 has no problems performing several heavy tasks at the same time.

Battery

Perhaps the most important improvement: the iPhone 16 has a longer battery life than the iPhone 15. The iPhone 15 had almost exactly the same battery as the iPhone 14, but with the iPhone 16 we (fortunately) see changes. With the iPhone 16 to 22 hours you do with the battery, with the iPhone 15 that is up to 20 hours. That is a two -hour difference, which means that the iPhone 16 will go throughout the day without any problems.

Is your iPhone empty? Then charging goes a lot faster with the iPhone 16. The new iPhone can fast load up to 30 watts, while with the iPhone 15 that is only 20 watts. Wireless charging is possible up to 25 watts, which is 15 watts with the iPhone 15. The iPhone 16 therefore lasts longer and charges much faster than the iPhone 15. Apple Intelligence

A major disadvantage of the iPhone 15 is that the device has no support for Apple Intelligence. This is due to the A16 Bionic chip, which is assisted by ‘only’ 6 GB of memory. According to Apple, the iPhone 15 does not have enough computing power for Apple Intelligence, which means that the phone will have to do without all the new functions. The iPhone 16 does get these features.

Apple Intelligence will only become available later in the Netherlands and Belgium, but with the iPhone 16 you are guaranteed to support all new functions.
