1. Face ID
The iPhone SE 2022 is the last iPhone with a home button. With the iPhone 16th, Apple definitively says goodbye to the home button, so that the phone is no longer protected with Touch ID. Instead, you unlock the iPhone with Face ID, just like with the regular iPhones. Face ID is one of the most important expected functions, with which the iPhone 16th no longer lags behind the regular aircraft.
2. Larger screen
That the home button disappears with the iPhone 16th has an advantage, because there is therefore more room left for the screen. It is expected that the phone will get a 6.1-inch OLED screen, just like the iPhone 16. Apple opts for the successor to the iPhone SE 2022 for a renewed design. The iPhone 16th is not much larger than the iPhone SE 2022, the dimensions of the housing remain about the same.
3. A18 chip
According to rumors, the iPhone turns 16th on the A18 chip. The new processor is important, because that gives the cheapest iPhone support for all new functions of Apple Intelligence. Recent models such as the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus have to do without these AI features. With the iPhone 16th you know for sure that you will have access to all the expected functions of Apple Intelligence.
4. Improved camera
At the rear of the iPhone SE 2022 we find a 12-megapixel camera. This lens gets a major upgrade with the iPhone 16th, because the phone is said to have a 48-megapixel camera. It is only about one lens, so that the zoom functions are limited. 5. Charging via USB-C
With the iPhone 16th, Apple not only says goodbye to the home button, we also don’t see the Lightning connection again. Instead, charge the phone via the USB-C port, as with the iPhone 15- and the iPhone 16 series is already the case. That is the result of European legislation, which states that all new electronic devices must have a USB-C connection. You only need one cable to charge your iPad, Mac (book) and iPhone.
6. Action button
The housing of the iPhone 16th is similar to the design of the iPhone 14, but rumors predict one important difference. The cheapest iPhone of 2025 probably has an action button, which we saw earlier with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and the iPhone 16 series. You decide which function is linked to the action button. The mute-Switch disappears with the successor to the iPhone SE.
