The relatively new iPhone 16th is currently in the top 10 of best -selling smartphones in Europe and there are also more iPhones.
The best -selling iPhones of the moment
Apple and the European Union have not seemed to be the best friends for some time because of all kinds of regulations and hefty fines. According to the latest reports, Apple may even stop with AirDrop in Europe and in a number of countries we of course still wait for the release of Apple Intelligence. But now there is finally a somewhat more positive message for Apple from Europe.
It appears that the iPhone 16th in the first full month that was available, together with four other iPhones, achieved the top 10 of best -selling smartphones in Europe. This is in one message from research agency Counterpoint. According to this message, the iPhone 16th is in ninth place in March 2025 and that accounts for 8 percent of Apple’s iPhone sales and 2 percent of the entire smartphone market.

There is also a downside
You can simply conclude from this that the iPhone 16th is popular with consumers. Yet this is not the performance level that Apple has seen in the past with the cheaper iPhones SE 2022 and SE 2020. The popularity of the iPhone 16th is a lot more moderate compared to that.
Sales fell by 17 percent and 20 percent respectively compared to the launch months of those earlier SE models. The first 30 days both also had a larger share in the sale of Apple (12 percent and 19 percent). These iPhones were also higher in the list of best-selling smartphones in Europe: the sixth place for the 2022 SE and the third place for the 2020 model.
According to Jan Stryjak from Counterpoint, this is mainly due to the price of the iPhone 16D. He says about this:
“The relativelty high price of the iPhone 16th Compared to Previous iPhone Se Devices has Limited Sales in Europe. At € 699 Launch price of the iPhone SE 2022 and € 479 for the iPhone SE 2020, which IPHOTEAL. The same price as the iPhone 16th, so many consumers are opting for arguably the better-specured, albeit nearly two-year-old, device, the iPhone 15 also featured in Europe’s top-10 list for April. ”
“The relatively high price of the iPhone 16th compared to earlier iPhone SE devices has limited sales in Europe. With an introduction price of € 699 for the iPhone SE 2022 and € 479 for the iPhone SE 2020, the device has become less attractive in this challenging economic climate. Even though it is almost two years old, the iPhone 15 was also in the top 10 in Europe. ”
Despite the higher price compared to the earlier relatively cheap iPhones, the iPhone 16th has managed to get a place in the top 10 of best -selling smartphones in Europe.
