iPhone 17 Air specifications leaked – we already know this

Apple is working on the completely new iPhone 17 Air, many of the specifications of which have been leaked. We already know this about the next iPhone!

iPhone 17 Air (or Slim)

In 2024, four new iPhones appeared again with the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple has four more devices planned for next year, but with a different layout. The Plus model makes way for the completely new iPhone 17 Air, also called iPhone 17 Slim. Several specifications of the iPhone 17 Air have now emerged.

Previously, the usually reliable Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo already released a series of specifications for the iPhone 17 Air. The phone will probably have a very thin design and a 6.6-inch display. This makes the iPhone 17 Air slightly smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus, which has a 6.7-inch screen. Analyst Jeff Pu has now shared more specs, giving us a better idea of ​​the phone.

A19 chip and one camera lens

According to Puff, the iPhone 17 Air runs on the A19 chip, which we will probably also see in the ‘normal’ iPhone 17. The device has 8 GB of RAM and is secured with Face ID. Other specifications that Puff expects for the iPhone 17 Air are a front camera with 24 megapixels, a single rear camera with 48 megapixels and an aluminum housing. The device therefore only has one lens at the back.

It is striking that the front camera will be 24 megapixels, because the current iPhones still have a 12-megapixel front camera. It is quite possible that Apple will provide all iPhone 17 models with the same lens. Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo indicated the same with the specifications of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The Pro models will get a smaller Dynamic Island next year, but we will reportedly not see those changes with the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air.

Release of the iPhone 17 Air

With these specifications, the iPhone 17 Air resembles the regular version of the iPhone 17, but with a much thinner housing. It is not yet known what other changes Apple will make to the design of the phone. According to Kuo and Puff, the housing is once again made of aluminum, just like the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus. The difference is probably mainly visible in the thickness of the phone.

The iPhone 17 Air is a replacement for the Plus model, but it is not yet clear whether this also applies to the price. According to previous rumors, the new device will be even more expensive than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, making it the most expensive iPhone ever. Apple will not release the new iPhones until next year, in September 2025. Then we will also know exactly what specifications the iPhone 17 Air will have.
