iPhone 17
The iPhone 16th has just appeared, but Apple is already busy developing the iPhone 17 in the background. The next iPhone will be released in September and, according to rumors, will have a number of long -awaited features. We are reportedly seeing a popular function of Pro models this year finally back at the regular iPhone. Curious what will change? These are the expected functions.
1. Promotion
Apple introduced promotion to the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. We then also saw the feature with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). With Promotion, the refresh rate of the screen is higher than we now see with the regular iPhones. With the iPhone 16 (plus) that is 60 Hz, which means that the screen is renewed 60 times per second. At Promotion that is 120 Hz.
Promotion has always been an exclusive function for the Pro models, but that will change this year. The feature comes to the iPhone 17, so that the entry model of the iPhone finally has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and gets an always-on screen. That is also time, because much cheaper Android devices already have this function. With Promotion, the frame rate is higher, making animations run much smoother on the screen.
2. Improved front camera
Do you find the camera of the iPhone important? Then the iPhone 17 gets a long -awaited improvement, because the front camera is being renewed. Where the current iPhones still have a 12-megapixel front camera, it will be a 24-megapixel camera with the iPhone 17. That would be a big improvement, because at the moment all iPhones still have a 12-megapixel front camera.
The iPhone 17 will be the first iPhone with a 24-megapixel camera on the front. With this camera, photos and videos have a higher quality and you have more options for editing the images. The generally reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously indicated that the new camera ensures that the photos and videos will be much sharper. At the rear, the iPhone 17 gets the same camera island as the iPhone 16 (plus).
3. WiFi 7
With the iPhone 16th, Apple introduced the C1 modem. This is the first modem produced by Apple itself, but previously Qualcomm did that. With the iPhone 17 we again see Apple’s own processor, the phone receives the new WiFi chip from the company. With this chip, the iPhone 17 receives support for features such as WiFi 7, just like the iPhone 16 (Plus) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max).
The new WiFi chip does not ensure a major change, but does make Apple less dependent on other manufacturers. WiFi 7 makes data transfer via the 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz network possible at the same time. As a result, the iPhone 17 has a fast and reliable internet connection, which has little delay. It is still unclear whether the new C1 modem will also come to the iPhone 17.
4. A19 chip
Like every year, the new iPhone gets a different processor than the previous models. The iPhone 17 runs on the new A19 chip, which is the successor to the A18 chip. The changes at the A18 chip were great, because the processor comes standard with more memory and offers support for Apple Intelligence. The same features are expected with the iPhone 17, which means that the differences with the iPhone 16 are probably smaller.
With the A19 chip, the iPhone 17 also gets 8 GB RAM and naturally has support for all functions of Apple Intelligence. The A19 chip is most likely faster and more powerful than the A18 chip. Larger differences are expected with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, because those devices get 12 GB of memory. That feature is probably limited to the iPhone 17 Pro (Max), the iPhone 17 has to do it with 8 GB RAM.
Release of the iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 therefore gets a number of long -awaited features. This year you no longer have to opt for a Pro model if you want a promotion screen with Always-on. We still have to wait a while for the iPhone 17, because Apple only presents the phone in September. Four iPhones again appear this year, but the line-up looks different than we are used to. The iPhone 16 Plus is followed by the iPhone 17 Air.
The iPhone 17 Air is a completely new iPhone, which becomes much thinner than all other models. We also see the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It is expected that Apple will announce the new iPhones at the beginning of September. The presentation may take place on Monday, September 8 or Tuesday 9 September 2025.
