One of them is a special battery function, which is said to only come to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
With the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) it becomes possible for the first time to charge other devices wirelessly. Since the iPhone 15 series you can already charge other devices wired with the supplied USB-C cable. You no longer need it from the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max to charge other devices, because that happens without cable. This battery function is exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Air have to do without the improvement.
Wireless charging with iPhone 17 Pro
The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be expanded with a special battery function. It will soon be possible to charge other devices wirelessly with these iPhones. You do that by placing a device on the back of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max). This way you can, for example, provide airpods or another smartphone with more power. The only condition is that these devices also support wireless charging.
Apple introduced wireless charging at the iPhone 8. Since then it has been possible to charge the iPhone without cable, which has become better and better in recent years. For example, the iPhone 12 got Magsafe and nowadays wireless charging is going much faster. With the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, this battery function is expanded, because you can also charge other devices wirelessly.

Different smartphones already have a similar battery function, so there is a good chance that the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) can charge other devices wirelessly. Apple only brings this function to this year’s pro models, making the difference between the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) even greater. That is not very strange, because the battery in the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) is much better.
The battery of the iPhone 17 Pro will probably last at least up to 27 hours, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max that is even up to 33 hours. With the new and energy-efficient A19 Pro chip, this battery life may be even longer.
