iPhone 17 screen: completely without borders
We’ve been waiting for the first iPhone without screen edges for a long time, but the screen of the iPhone 17 Pro seems to get the scoop. According to rumors, Apple has asked Samsung and LG Display to make new OLED panels.
These panels must then be made for the borderless screen of the iPhone 17 Pro, but they must use the current design of the iPhone. The tech giant from Cupertino does not want a screen with curved edges, as the Samsung Galaxy Edge has.
By choosing the well-known iPhone design, enough space remains available to improve the camera under the screen, among other things. The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to be the first iPhone to get Face ID under the screen. This will soon be the first device with a screen without borders.
Apple wants to develop a new screen
In addition, this screen is then used to bridge the time until Apple has made their new microLED screens. According to rumors, the first Apple product to receive this new microLED screen is the Apple Watch Ultra in 2025. Multiple reports indicate that the iPhone will follow in the coming years.
Until then, we have to wait for a borderless iPhone screen. The iPhone 17 Pro with the new screen will not be available until 2025. But Apple is not standing still, because according to recent reports, the edges of the iPhone 15 are getting a bit thinner again.
