Improvement with the iPhone 18
Apple has started developing the iPhone 18 series! The next generation of the iPhone again consists of three models, just like the iPhone 17 series. It is expected that the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be equipped with new processors. The iPhone 18 will have the A20 chip, the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max are said to run on the A20 Pro chip.
The new processors make the devices a lot faster, but that may not be the most important improvement with the iPhone 18. According to rumors, Apple is working on an improved display for the basic model of the iPhone 18 series. You will notice this adjustment every day, because the screen of the iPhone 18 becomes much brighter. The new display must always be clearly readable, even in bright sunlight.
Screen becomes much brighter
It is striking that Apple opts for a brighter screen with the iPhone 18, because we already saw a similar improvement with the iPhone 17. The basic model of 2025 has a peak brightness of 3000 nits, while this was 2000 nits with the iPhone 16. The display of the iPhone has recently become brighter, but with the iPhone 18, Apple goes one step further.
It is still unclear how much brighter the iPhone 18’s screen will be. Apple may mainly adjust the default brightness of the display. With the iPhone 15, iPhone 16 and iPhone 17 this is still 1000 nits, with the iPhone 18 the brightness is probably higher.
In any case, Apple’s new requirements are causing problems for BOE, the Chinese supplier behind the iPhone screens. BOE reportedly does not meet Apple’s requirements for higher screen brightness. Part of the production is therefore taken over by Samsung Display.
