According to rumors, Apple plans to give the new iPhone a much better battery. But there is a disadvantage to this.
iPhone battery life will get much better by 2026 (but there’s a big downside)
In 2026, Apple plans to release the new iPhone 18 series. Apple will first launch the foldable iPhone Fold and the iPhone 18 Pro (Max). The regular iPhone 18 will then have to wait a little longer and will not appear until 2027.
According to rumors, Apple will also significantly improve the battery of the iPhone Fold. The battery even seems to be larger than 5500 mAh. You may not say that much, but for comparison: the current ‘battery king’ (the iPhone 17 Pro Max) has a battery of 4832 mAh. The version with only e-SIM (available in the US, among others) has a slightly larger battery, but that doesn’t make much of a difference.

Even the competitors in the Android camp do not have such a large battery in their foldable smartphones. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a capacity of 5015 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 4400 mAh battery.
Usually reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that Apple will try to boost the battery life with the new iPhone 18 Fold. yeaux1122 (who often comes up with these kinds of rumors) also previously claimed that Apple is testing a battery between 5400 and 5800 mAh.
So it’s great that Apple is going to improve the battery considerably on the new iPhone. It has been a common wish for a long time to last longer with a battery charge. But unfortunately, according to these rumors, there is also less good news. It seems that only the iPhone Fold will have a significantly larger battery. The other iPhones only receive minimal battery upgrades.
