1. Bluetooth: always the right volume
We start this week’s iPhone tips with a handy Bluetooth tip. In your list of Bluetooth devices you can indicate per device what type of device it is. That may not seem important. But if you do indicate this, your iPhone will from now on automatically set the correct volume. So handy!
You indicate this in the Settings app. Tap Bluetooth, then tap the “i” behind one of the devices in the list. Then tap ‘Device type’ and indicate whether it is a car stereo, headphones, hearing aid, speaker or something else.
2. Headphone safety
Number two of these iPhone tips also relates to volume. And then the volume of your headphones. Your iPhone can protect you against loud noises, provided it is set correctly, of course. You can check this as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Hear and feel’;
- Tap ‘Headphone Safety’;
- Enable the ‘Reduce loud noise’ option;
- Adjust the decibel level if desired.
3. Screen Time: Restrict allowed apps
The third of these iPhone tips is about screen time and the apps that are allowed there. There are probably more than you think! You can adjust this manually in the following way:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Screen Time’;
- Scroll down a little and tap ‘Restrictions’;
- Enable the ‘Restrictions’ option and tap ‘Allowed apps’;
- Make sure that only the necessary apps are left enabled.
4. Speed limit in Maps
Number four of these iPhone tips is about the Maps app. If you use Maps to navigate, it is of course useful if you can see the speed limit in the app while driving. If you see that standard, you don’t have to do anything. If you miss the indication, enable the function as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Scroll down and tap ‘Maps’;
- Under ‘ROUTE’, tap ‘Car’;
- Make sure the ‘Maximum speed’ option is enabled.
5. Personal voice on all devices
The fifth of these iPhone tips is for anyone using the Personal Voice option. You do not have to recreate this on all your Apple devices. You can simply share the Personal Voice you created on one of those devices with the rest. This is how you do it:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Accessibility’;
- Scroll down and tap ‘Personal voice’;
- Enable the ‘Share to all devices’ option.
6. Mail: send attachments
We conclude this week’s iPhone tips with a tip for the Mail app. You have a number of options when it comes to sending attachments when replying to an email. You can find those options here:
- Open the Settings app;
- Scroll down a bit and tap ‘Mail’;
- Scroll down and tap ‘Send attachments with replies’;
- Make the choice that best suits your preferences.
We recommend choosing ‘Question’ here. It is unlikely that you always want the same option and this way you simply indicate what you want each time.
