Of course your iPhone is your best friend when you go to work out, but widgets make it all the fun. In this week’s iPhone tips: the best widgets for athletes!
The best widgets for athletes
With the right widgets you can see at a glance whether the weather is good for running, you immediately have your gym pass at hand and you are automatically reminded that it is time to move. If you want to know how to add widgets, read the general iPhone tips article about widgets!

1. Stay active with Standland
This widget is intended for anyone who sits more than is good for him or her, but it is actually fun for everyone. The cute creatures in Standland help you get up more often. You get up, they get up too. If you stay put, they will fall asleep.
In the widget you can see at a glance how you are doing and how long it will be before you have to get up again. More fun than you might think!
2. Monitor your progress with Fitness
The second of our iPhone tips is useful if you want to track your progress. Many athletes probably already use the Fitness app for this, because it is largely automatic. Only to view your results you have to open the app first. With the Condition widget, you don’t have to!
You can see in the widget by default how far your rings are already full, how many calories you have burned, how many steps you have taken and what distance you have covered. And all without having to open the app first.
3. Always in view of the weather with the Weather widget
Is the weather good for a run? Will you be able to get to the gym reasonably dry later? That is information that is very practical to see in a widget. The weather app widget is great for this.
Most weather apps that you find in the App Store also offer a widget. For example, you can choose Buienalarm widget, but one of the best, most accurate and reliable weather app and widget is Carrot. This app is just not free. You can try Carrot for a week, after which you have to pay 21.99 euros per year.
4. Your gym card always at hand thanks to Dappre
The last widget in our iPhone tips is Dappre. It is always useful to put your gym card in an app such as Dappre, but with a widget it becomes even easier. You don’t have to look for the app to open it first, but you tap directly on the desired card. Can’t go faster!
You can add your gym pass to Dappre as follows:
- Open the Dappre app and tap the plus sign at the top right;
- Tap on ‘Other card’ at the bottom;
- Scan the code on your card. If you don’t have one, continue to step 4;
- Tap “Enter Manually”
- Fill in the details and tap ‘Save’ at the top right.
