iPhoned chooses: this is the best of Netflix from 2025

Netflix remains the largest streaming service in the Netherlands, so that’s why we choose the ten best Netflix series and films of 2025. Have you seen them all yet?

Best of Netflix 2025

With the price increases, it is becoming less and less attractive to have Netflix all year round. If you take another month, you should definitely check out the series and films below. We think this is the best thing Netflix has released in 2025.

10. Long Story Short

The man behind beloved Netflix series BoJack Horseman came up with something new this year, which has many similarities with his last week. Also Long Story Short is very cleverly written and full of little jokes. Yet this animated series is also its own thing. Long Story Short follows a family at different times in their lives. The choice not to tell their story chronologically keeps the viewing experience fresh.

9. Critical – Between Life and Death

It’s on HBO Max The Pitt a hit: a drama series that shows the harsh reality of working in the emergency room. On Netflix you can Critical see the real thing. This documentary looks into a London hospital. Not only the employees, but also the patients are interviewed, while you are involved in every step of their journey. That is not always easy to watch, but it is exceptionally well made.

8. Frankenstein

The story of Doctor Frankenstein and his monster has been told many times, but this time director Guillermo del Toro can go wild with his interpretation. This story fits him like a glove, because in much of his work the monsters ultimately turn out to be better than the people. In Frankenstein the monster is excellently played by actor Jacob Elordi, but Oscar Isaac and Mia Goth are also top notch.

7. Boots

Based on the book The Pink NavyBoots tells about a young man who joins the United States Marine Corps with his best friend. The problem is that he’s gay, and homosexuality is strictly forbidden in the military. The series manages to combine genuine drama with comedy and, above all, a whole bunch of fun characters. Unfortunately, Netflix has already pulled the plug on the series, so we won’t be getting a second season.

6. The Perfect Neighbor

The Perfect Neighbour was one of the most talked about documentaries of the year. This true crime film consists entirely of video footage recorded by police officers. They have to regularly visit a woman who calls herself the perfect neighbor. Yet she continues to grumble about the children playing in the neighborhood. This escalates until a boy is shot. The Perfect Neighbour is not an easy film to watch, but it is an important one.

5. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery

Long may Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig continue making Knives Out-movies. This third murder mystery is enjoyable again. After the fun Glass Onioncreator Rian Johnson tells a more serious story about religion and politics this time. It is another strong whodunnit including a good cast, with Craig in particular as detective Benoit Blanc stealing the spotlight. What fun he has in this role.

4. Train Dreams

Train Dreams is a dreamy masterpiece about a man who regularly leaves his loved one for extended periods of time to work. As a lumberjack, he helps build the train tracks that connect cities across the United States. Old trees have to fall for this progress, while he can use the money for new life in the form of his daughter.

3. Stranger Things (season 5)

We have yet to see the final episodes, but it’s clear that the Duffer brothers know exactly what they’re doing. A series like Stranger Things won’t be getting it on Netflix again anytime soon. The combination of this cast and their characters, the music choices, the tension and the build-up to the explosive moments are a delight.

2. Adolescence

Adolescence is first and foremost an important series. The miniseries tells the story of a teenager suspected of murdering a classmate, and deals with cyberbullying and the manosphere, among other things. In addition Adolescence the most uniquely made series of the year, because each episode consists of one long shot.

1. KPop Demon Hunters

No one expected that an animated film from Netflix could become such a big hit. Probably not Netflix itself either. Yet it is Kpop Demon Hunters nothing less than a phenomenon. In the film you follow three girls who form a kpop band together, but are also secretly demon hunters who use their music to maintain a barrier between the normal world and that of the demons.

Not only are the girls’ songs extremely catchy (they are in all the charts for a reason), but the film is also incredibly fun. The jokes work, the characters are good and important topics surrounding mental health are touched upon. And then we haven’t even talked about our own style. A ‘Golden’ medal for that Kpop Demon Huntersbecause this is the best of Netflix 2025.
