The July security update is now available for Google’s Pixel smartphones. This update brings the latest security patches and enables VoLTE calling features for the Pixel 6 (Pro). You can expect the update from today.
Security Update
Last Tuesday, we got the news that Samsung had released the July Android 12 security update. This made the company even faster than Google, the maker of Android. Google already had the update ready, but because it was a holiday in the United States last Monday, they have moved it to today. The update includes some stabilization and performance improvements and fixes some vulnerabilities. In addition, the update comes with a ‘new’ feature called ‘VoLTE’. This is the communication method that makes it possible to make calls via 4G. This feature will be added in the July security update. This feature will be available for the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.
When available?
The July update for the Pixel phones is being rolled out in phases and because of this you may not have received the update yet. You should receive a notification as soon as the update is available. You can also manually check whether you have already received the update. You do this as follows: Settings -> Software update -> Download and install.
The July security update is only available for the Pixel 4 and newer Pixel smartphones. The Pixel smartphones that will receive the update are the following devices: Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.
