Kia will market seven completely new electric models between now and 2027. One of these will be Kia’s equivalent of Hyundai’s yet to be revealed Ioniq 5. That electric Kia can be seen on a set of spy photos today.
Kia will be pulling the curtain on a completely new electric crossover later this year, which will be placed on the Hyundai Group’s brand-new E-GMP platform specifically for EVs. Hyundai will soon be parking the Ioniq 5 on that versatile base plate, the electric Kia of similar size will follow.

The Kia EV, which bears the codename CV, shows strong technical similarities with the aforementioned Ioniq 5. As far as specifications are concerned, it seems to be going well with Kia’s newcomer. Previously leaked data showed that the Ioniq 5 will be available in a 315 hp four-wheel drive variant with battery packs of 58 kWh and 73 kWh. The range of the Ioniq 5, of which less potent versions are also coming, would be 550 kilometers.
Although the still nameless electric Kia shares its technology with the Ioniq 5, the car will get a completely different body. After all, the appearance of the Ioniq 5 is based on that of the Hyundai 45 Concept. The looks of the Kia are very much like those of both the Imagine Concept and the Futuron Concept. It is striking that Hyundai’s premium brand Genesis also comes with an electric derivative of the two electric Koreans. That seems to broadly correspond to the Kia visible in these photos.
