Although Lada’s share in the Netherlands has been minimal for years, the iconic brand is still stiffly building cars, especially for Russia. After fifty years, the Russian brand achieves a new production milestone: the 30 millionth Lada sees the light of day.
The 30 millionth Lada is a red Granta sedan that was born in Togliattigrad, Russia. This happens in the 50th anniversary of the brand. To celebrate the big moment, two important top executives have flown in. The brand new CEO Luca de Meo was present on behalf of Groupe Renault, CEO Yves Karakatzanis represented Avtovaz.
Fifty years ago, a VAZ-2101 was the first Lada to see the light of day in the Russian factory. To show the time jump, a copy is parked next to the new anniversary number. That VAZ-2101 (known to us as Lada 1200) was the car with which millions of Russians became mobile. With the Granta, Lada seems to match that success, because that car is at the very top of the Russian sales lists.
The 30 millionth Lada will never get the public road under its wheels, because the car ends up in the Lada company museum.
