You too, Urus
Times change and so Lamborghini is also increasingly using the hybrid drive. Even the Urus, not exactly the epitome of climate-conscious living, will have a partly electric powertrain.
Lamborghini is also pushing ahead with electrification. From next year, only cars from the Lamborghini factory with electrical assistance will be on board. That means that the Lamborghini Urus will also be a hybrid. We see him in these photos.
At first glance it looks like a simply tightly packed but immediately recognizable Lamborghini Urus, only there is more going on. There are some stickers on it indicating that it is a hybrid test car. That’s a good thing, otherwise it wouldn’t have been immediately obvious. After all, at the back we still see four chutes that are not there for decoration. What the model gives away even more, according to the spy photographer, is a ‘tank cover’ on both sides, one of which hides a charging connection. So it will be a plug-in hybrid.
It remains to be seen what exactly happens under the hood, but be careful that the hybrid Urus borrows from its cousin, the Porsche Cayenne. After all, it is already available as a plug-in Turbo S E-Hybrid and with its 680 hp Urus Perfomante-like power is available. There is therefore a good chance that the plug-in hybrid Lamborghini hides the same 4.0 V8 with electric motor under its special bodywork.
In addition to the partly electric powertrain, this prototype may bring more news. The regular Urus (now called the Urus S), which was renewed last year, does not seem to have completely brought the innovation for the model. It comes with the car we see here. The headlights look slightly different in shape and have a different signature. So this is probably the really facelifted Urus and anyway, next year a new chapter for Lamborghini’s SUV will start with this car.
