WhatsApp groups are a modern take on circle conversations. All group members can post and everyone can comment on each other. There are all kinds of groups: from families, friends, associations, but also for a specific event. For example, a group to organize a party or to divide tasks around a trip.

Are you in a group and no longer want to participate? Then you can leave the group. Other members will then be notified that you are no longer participating. In small groups it is customary to announce that you are stopping. Being suddenly gone without notification can be considered unkind.

To leave a WhatsApp group like this:

• Launch WhatsApp.
• Tap the tab chats.
• Tap the group conversation of the group you want to leave.
• Tap the group name at the top.
• Scroll all the way down to the group information section.
• Tap on Leave group (iPhone) or Leave group (Android).
• Tap again Leave group (iPhone) or To leave (Android).

You are no longer a member of the group. You cannot send new messages to the group.
