During the GP of France, Olav Mol’s commentary will also be missed by many, but in the Grand Prix Radio app he reports on the race as usual! That’s how you listen to it.
Grand Prix Radio App: Commentary by Olav Mol
Although we were able to enjoy Formula 1 through Ziggo until last year, this year is very different. You now have two options: watch F1 via ViaPlay, or via the F1 TV Pro service that the motorsport royal class has set up itself. They have one thing in common: there is no more comment from Olav Mol.
Still, Olav Mol reports every race together with Jack Plooij – but via a different channel. This goes through Grand Prix Radio, which you listen to through the official website or via the Grand Prix Radio app.
How to use the Grand Prix Radio app
First, download the Grand Prix Radio app from the App Store. You can do this via the button below. Open the app, tap through the first notifications (tracking, push notifications – the usual), then select the ‘Radio’ tab at the bottom. Then tap the play button to listen.
The radio station works throughout the week, but of course it is mainly about the commentary during the race. If you are listening to the radio station at that moment, then Olav Mol and Jack Plooij have the floor. You can then use the ‘0.5 sec’ buttons to compensate for delay or acceleration in your television signal compared to the commentary. This way everything runs nicely in sync.
Stream comments to your speakers
Want to hear the commentary even better? Send it to your speakers via AirPlay! Listen to the Grand Prix Radio app by following the steps above, and open your control panel: swipe from the top right to the bottom, or from the bottom to the top if you have a home button. Then tap the small AirPlay icon at the top right. You’ll then see a list of all the devices you can stream the audio from the Grand Prix Radio app to: tap them to forward the audio.
You can also listen back to the commentary. This way you can watch a race back with Olav Mol’s commentary. You do this via the Race Missed Page from Grand Prix Radio.
