Apple plans to make logging into websites and apps with your iPhone a lot easier. You no longer have to type in a password to log in, but simply use your Face ID or the passcode of your iPhone.
Logging into websites and apps just got easier
It’s not just Apple that plans to make the switch to making it easier to log in to websites with your iPhone. Google and Microsoft are also working hard on this. From now on you no longer need a password to log in to, for example, your iCloud on your PC or when you want to log in to Twitter or Facebook on another computer. But not only websites support the new way of logging in. Apps will also be built in more and more in the future.
The large tech companies use FIDO (Fast Identity Online) for this. It is a standard devised by the big tech companies (such as Apple, Google and Microsoft) to make logging in more secure and easier. However, it is not a new invention, because FIDO has been around for some time. For more information about FIDO, it is best to watch the video below.
The new way of logging in will become more and more available in the coming years. This will make logging in to websites a lot easier and safer in the future, which is of course a plus. Of course, it becomes even more important not to just give your iPhone passcode to someone. You also need to make sure that your code is not easy to guess.
