Nowadays you have to log in to many websites and to keep all your login details safe it is wise to use many different passwords. This may prevent you from remembering your password for a particular website. Fortunately, browsers often store your passwords through a password manager. How do you use it? In this article we will go through them per browser.
Google Chrome
To get an overview of saved passwords, in Chrome, click the button with the three dashes in the top right corner. Choose Settings and click at the bottom Advanced settings view. Scroll down until you reach Passwords and forms sees. Default state Offer to save your internet passwords checked. click on Managing passwords to get an overview. In this window you will see a series of login names and invisible passwords. Move your cursor over a password and click View to see it.
Often times, if you want to see your passwords, you have to enter the master password for your operating system first. This can be a problem when you, for any reason, is not on your own computer and still want to retrieve a password. In this article, we’ll give you a gadget that can help with that.
Internet Explorer
In Internet Explorer, click on the gear in the top right corner and choose Internet options. Click centrally in the tab Content in the box Autofill on Settings and then choose Password management. Through Web references you get an overview. Select a specific service and click on View. Give yourself a second Windowspassword to display a password.
Mozilla Firefox
In Firefox, click the button with the three dashes at the top right and then choose Options. On the tab Security can you Saved passwords request as in the other browsers. You can view or delete the passwords. Interestingly, you can also choose to Using a master password. This is extra security so that not everyone who uses your computer can request your passwords. You must enter this master password each time you want to use a saved password. Through Exceptions you can finally indicate the websites for which the passwords may not be saved.
Safari
Safari users can go through Safari / Preferences / Passwords request a list. Finch Show passwords for selected websites, enter your administrator password and then click on the service for which you want to request the password. If desired, you can remove a password.
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft has built in many of the same functions in Edge as in Internet Explorer, and the password management works in almost the same way. The menu structure is the only difference. In Edge, click on the three horizontal dots at the top right and press Settings. Click at the bottom Show advanced settings and click under the heading Privacy and services Manage my saved passwords.
Edge is not very useful to actually display passwords. Open it Control panel and press consecutively User Accounts> Credential Management. Click the arrow next to one of the usernames and click next to the password field View. Enter your Windows password and the password will be displayed.
