Mazda 3: stronger SkyActiv-X and new petrol engine

Mazda gave the CX-30 a model year update late last year, introducing the crossover to, among other things, a more powerful SkyActiv-X power unit. The Mazda 3 is now undergoing a similar model year update. Techzle immediately has all prices.

The Mazda 3 will not only be technically overhauled for model year 2021, the standard equipment of the compact mid-sized car will also be fine-tuned. We start with the technical aspect. Mazda has proven to be able to further reduce CO2 emissions from all engine versions. For example, that of the 3 Sedan with 2.0 SkyActiv-G with manual gearbox is 10 g / km lower than before. The SkyActiv-X machine with manual gearbox blows 8 grams less CO2 per kilometer into the air in the 3 Sedan.

Something interesting is going on with that engine. Just like in the CX-30, it becomes slightly more powerful. The 2.0 SkyActiv-X is now 186 hp and 240 Nm strong. As with the CX-30, all engines that Mazda supplies in the 3 are now equipped with the mild-hybrid M Hybrid system, which, according to the fan manufacturer, makes a significant contribution to the already mentioned CO2 reduction. All motorcycles therefore get the suffix ‘e-‘ before their name. The 116 hp 1.8 SkyActiv-D diesel engine does not return in the 3.

Completely new is the e-SkyActiv G, a 150 hp and 213 Nm strong mild-hybrid petrol engine that gets a place above the well-known 122 hp petrol engine. The e-SkyActiv-G is available with a manual gearbox and with a six-speed automatic. The block helps the hatchback and sedan, equipped with a manual gearbox, to 100 km / h in 9.1 seconds. The variants with automatic transmission need 9.5 counts for that sprint.

Mazda is also adapting the equipment of the 3. Although nothing changes for the unnamed standard version, the Comfort version now has two zones of separate climate control, a reversing camera and parking beeps at the front. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, like Smart Keyless Entry, are now also part of the basic equipment of the Comfort. The Luxury trim adds a black leather interior, adaptive LED headlights, Bose audio system and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function. New is the temporarily available Sportive, which is only available in conjunction with the e-SkyActiv-G petrol engine. The Sportive is based on the Comfort version, but has as extras not only LED lighting at the front and rear, but also privacy glass, a rimless interior mirror, 18-inch light metal and specific finish in the interior.

The finely ground Mazda 3 can be ordered immediately. The first copies will be available in the middle of this month.
