McLaren has released her MSO department on one of her latest acquisitions; the Elva. In doing so, they once took a sharp look at McLaren’s history.
The McLaren Elva is very special in itself, but that does not prevent McLaren’s special department MSO from enjoying the two-seater. Two copies of the € 1.8 million roadster have already been given a completely new look by MSO. First of all, the ‘M1A’. That’s, as the name implies, a direct tribute to the M1A that started it all for McLaren in the 1960s. It was built by Elva and based on that design, the coach of the McLaren Elva unveiled at the end of last year. This completes the circle. The dark carriage with white and red accents, including the placement of the car number, are all references to the first M1As. Number 4 was Bruce McLaren’s number.
The second special version of the Elva is called M6A. It takes its inspiration from the 1967 McLaren race car of the same name. Unlike the M1A, the M6A was built entirely by McLaren itself. Bruce McLaren drove it himself, with car number 4, and won the Can-Am title with it. The color, Anniversary Orange, pays tribute to the switch to orange as the color of McLaren. A slightly different variant of the signature orange ready is also known as ‘Papaya Orange’, the color that has been featured on McLaren’s Formula 1 cars for a few years.
