Mercedes-Benz shows (packed) new SL

While all eyes at Mercedes-Benz seem to be on the unveiling of the all-new S-class, the Germans themselves are sending around a remarkable set of spy photos. This will be the new SL!

Convertible enthusiasts will not have it easy in 2020. Many brands give up the homeless models because the profit margin is so small. Some come with remarkable new open creations to still have a convertible in the range, such as a heightened summer worshiper such as the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabrio: perhaps not what you are looking for as an enthusiast. Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz is still holding on to the convertible and renewed the E-class convertible earlier this year. However, there were less clear plans for the future about the more compact SL. According to rumors, the model could even disappear.

However, Mercedes-Benz is now creating clarity and sending photos of a packed prototype itself. You guessed it: a brand new SL is hiding under the thick layer of camouflage. Mercedes is not letting go of much yet, although it does say that Daimler’s sporty AMG branch is entirely responsible for the development of the new SL. The SL may therefore only be available with a strong impact power under the right foot. However, we have to do it for now. It is not yet clear when the car will arrive and the camouflage material ensures that there is not really anything meaningful to say about the carriage. It is not even clear whether the SL will stick to the steel roof construction, or whether Mercedes will again opt for a fabric copy.

The SL has since become an iconic name in the Mercedes portfolio. The first SL appeared in 1952. The current SL is no longer available in our country since the beginning of this year.
