WhatsApp will use AI for a handy new feature that will be rolled out soon – we will tell you what to expect from it.
WhatsApp gets a new function with AI
A number of beta testers on Android report that WhatsApp has added a new position with AI to the app, as can be read in a message from Wabainfo. It is a function controlled by AI that summarizes unread messages in chats, groups and channels for you. The feature is called private processing.
Once the function is activated and there are enough unread messages present in the app, a new button appears. That button is called ‘Summarizing with Meta Ai’ (‘Summarious with Meta Ai’) and comes instead of the usual report ‘X unread messages’. If you tap it, you will see a short summary of the chat.

WhatsApp does not read along
According to WhatsApp, no contents of messages are stored or linked to the user. Everything is processed in an isolated environment in the cloud and the summaries are removed immediately after processing.
Wabetainfo notes that the function is also automatically switched off in chats that use ‘advanced privacy for chats’. In those cases, no AI interaction takes place, not even if encryption is on.

For the time being, the function for summarizing messages is only available for some users in the Android beta and is gradually being rolled out. It is not yet known when the function will come to iOS.
Writing Help
Furthermore, WhatsApp develops another AI-based function called ‘Writing Help’. With that you can refine the tone or clarity of your messages before you send them. This function also uses the private processing infrastructure to guarantee privacy. Loves iPhoned In mind so that you are always aware of the developments at WhatsApp.
