Morgan sends photos of the first built copies of a new limited series to the world. It is the Morgan Plus 4 70th Anniversary Edition. Strangely enough, we had not seen that car at all.
Just before Morgan showed the brand new Plus 4, it was announced that there would be a limited edition to celebrate the model’s 70th anniversary. However, that limited is still based on the outgoing model. It was clear in the middle of January that he would come, because the British already sent a sketch of that car to the world. Now the moment has arrived and we see the car in living bodies. The basis is therefore the “old” Plus 4 that does not yet use the new aluminum platform. In addition to its own logos and numbering, the special edition will have a custom interior with the most refined type of leather.
Under the hood is not yet the new 2.0-liter turbo engine with 258 hp and 400 Nm hidden, but the outgoing turbo-free 2.0-liter four-in-line with originally 156 hp. However, the block is taken care of by Morgans own racing team, so that the block is now good for 182 hp.
So Morgan designs the car to celebrate another milestone. The British quirky brand launched the very first Plus 4 in 1950. At the time, this was the successor to the 4/4. Now it is not the case that the Plus 4 has actually been in production for 70 years, because in the meantime the plug was pulled out of production several times. For example, Morgan ceased production between 1969 and 1985 and between 2000 and 2005. The four copies of the special edition in the photo are part of a total of 20 copies. Interested? Unfortunately, all copies have already been forgiven. The UK price was £ 60,995 (excluding taxes).
