Morgan ends production of the 3 Wheeler in style with the Project 101, a limited edition to 33 pieces that harks back to the internal designation of the 3 Wheeler. Morgan goes on to say that the idiosyncratic tricycle will return ‘at a later stage’, but does not reveal anything concrete about it yet.
Production of the 3 Wheeler is coming to an end because the type approval for its S&S V-twin engine expires in 2021. With the limited to 33 copies, Morgan says goodbye to the three-wheeler in style. The P101 can be recognized by a number of details. For starters, it features a ‘tonneau cover’, a cover for the passenger seat when you drive alone. This was previously seen on the 2016 EV3 Concept. Furthermore, the special 3 Wheeler has ‘Aero-disc’ wheels, which means that there is a large round cover over the spokes. For more light in the dark, there are two additional Hella spotlights with a diameter of 9 inches at the front. Furthermore, the exhausts on the left in white and on the right in black and it says ‘P101’ on the body.
For the 3 Wheeler P101, Morgan offers a choice of four different ‘Art Packs’, each with its own design. The one in the photos is called ‘The Dazzleship’ and, according to Morgan, is inspired by military vehicles from the time of the original 3 Wheeler. The 3 Wheeler P101 costs converted € 50,358 excluding taxes. Morgan points out that the P101 “closes an incredible chapter in Morgan history.” That means the 3 Wheeler will no longer return to its current form, but not that the concept is extinct. Morgan indicates that an ‘exciting new chapter for three-wheeled Morgans begins’.
What this means in concrete terms is not yet known. The aforementioned EV3 Concept is probably a good harbinger of what is to come. Previously, the production of this fully electric 3 Wheeler was canceled, but Morgan indicated at the time that it was looking at options for the EV3 to go into production. We wait anxiously.
