New Aston Martin DBS is further away from its base

Still a V12?

New Aston Martin DBS is further away from its base

The Aston Martin DB12 will eventually get a more powerful brother in the form of the new DBS, which may be given a different name. Not only that; the DBS is a bit further away from the DB12 than the previous one was from the DB11.

For years, the Aston Martin DBS has been the sportier alternative to the DB currently on the market. That started in recent history with the DB9, which was followed by the DBS in 2008. In 2012, the model continued as Vanquish after a refresh. Subsequently, the DB11 also received a DBS brother in 2018 and now it is time to repeat that with the DB12.

Unlike the previous DBS, the new one seems quite far removed from its base with its appearance. Of course, it is a DB12 underneath and you can clearly see that despite the larger grille and openings in the hood at the front, but at the rear it is a slightly different story. It may be a clever disguise, but it really looks like the new DBS will have a considerably extended rear end.

The bolder appearance reflects a much more potent drivetrain. The DBS will probably still get a V12, while the DB12 will have to make do with a (certainly not underpowered) V8 for the time being. In the previous DBS, the V12 was ultimately good for no less than 770 hp. There are rumors that Aston Martin is dusting off the Vanquish name again. We will see.
