New BMW 2 Series Active Tourer meets the ‘Ring

BMW takes the next step in the development of the brand new 2-series Active Tourer, because its developers send the MPV the famous Nürburgring.

After many snow kilometers, the first prototypes of the brand new BMW 2-series Active Tourer are sent to the German Nüburgring. Although it is not directly its natural habitat, the new offspring from the BMW stable seems to be having a good time on the track. Unfortunately, BMW has not yet bothered to rid the 2-series Active Tourer of its camouflage material. That means the MPV is still wrapped from head to toe with the black and white material.

However, the wrap does not hide the fact that the 2-series Tourer will look a lot like the new 1-series. The grille promises to get the same shape and the tail lights are also familiar. Funny is the rear wiper that is removed from under the spoiler and an extra side window in the front doors where the side mirrors from the A-pillar move to the doors.

Like its predecessor, which has been driving around since 2014, the new 2-series Active Tourer becomes a front-wheel drive. It is not yet clear whether the more spacious Gran Tourer will return. It is of course quite remarkable that BMW continues its MPV story. Quite a few other brands are saying goodbye to the segment and are exchanging space packers for SUVs. BMW, however, not yet. The car is expected before the end of this or early 2021.
