The Citroën C3 Aircross has been running for almost six years, so we are working hard on a successor. That new Citroën C3 Aircross has been caught outside the door for the first time. What seems? It will be significantly larger than the current model!

The Citroën C3 Aircross was presented in mid-2017 as the successor to the C3 Picasso, which is more MPV-influenced. With this model, Citroën finally had a compact crossover in the car segment like the Renault Captur. At the beginning of 2021, the Citroën C3 Aircross was given a fairly drastic facelift and in that renewed form the crossover does not have to last very long. There is a completely new C3 Aircross in the barrel!

The current Citroën C3 Aircross stretches over a distance of about 4.15 meters, but the test model visible in these photos seems a lot longer. Count on a crossover with a car length of about 4.3 meters. This means that the new C3 Aircross fits neatly with Stellantis sister models such as the Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka. That growth spurt does mean that the C3 Aircross format comes quite close to the 4.36 meter long C4 Aircross.

Although the current C3 Aircross has been optically in line with younger Citroën models, certainly since its facelift, the car could use a generation change on a technical level. It is still on the PF1 platform, which is also used by cars such as the C3 Picasso, previous generation Peugeot 2008 and the previous and current C3. That base is not suitable for full electrification, so the current C3 Picasso is not available with an electric powertrain. The new one will. The second generation C3 Aircross will be on the CMP platform, known from a huge number of Stellantis models. That CMP base is not only suitable for combustion engines, but can also handle fully electric powertrains. In addition to electric versions, you can also count on variants with mid-hybrid petrol engines.

The test model visible in these photos is still quite covered in camouflage stickers, so there is not much to say about the appearance of the new C3 Aircross, except that the car is clearly getting stronger SUV traits. The C3 Aircross gets cut-up lighting on the front over two layers and something of the LED rear lights can also be seen.
