Kawasaki had renewed it extensively last year, so Team Green has only provided the Z650 with new color schemes for the 2025 model year. Three new color schemes even.
Man, how quickly time flies. It still feels like yesterday that Kawasaki introduced the Z650 as the successor to the successful ER-6n, but according to the calendar, it was really the year 2016 that the new Z650 was announced. October 2016 to be precise, as a 2017 model.
The Z650 was not only almost 20 kilos lighter than the ER-6n, but also had a block that was much fresher and fruitier. And which could also be driven very economically, as evidenced by the ECO Challenge organized by the Benelux importer in 2018.
Three years later, the Z650 received its first update, where the design was slightly tightened and the hideous LCD was replaced by a 4.3″ TFT color display that has now been rolled out to almost all models. With Bluetooth connectivity of course, to ensure to connect the Kawasaki Rideology app. In addition, the engine at the bottom had been given a bit of a boost.
Again three years later, a second update followed, in which the Z650 was equipped with traction control that was adjustable in 2 positions (and could be switched off). Not that we had to do that, personally we don’t see the point of it at all with these types of engines, but unfortunately it is a trend. Fortunately, during the first test it did not appear to intervene excessively, so it did not bother us and there was no need to immediately switch it off.
For 2025, Kawasaki has now come up with three new fresh color schemes with the names Metallic Spark Black/Green, Metallic Spark Black/Red and Metallic Matte Dark Gray/Metallic Spark Black. The 2025 Z650 is available immediately for a price tag of € 7,999. Of course also available with a 35 kW kit for the A2 driving license.
