With the introduction of the all-new C40, Volvo is strengthening its market position in the electric car segment. The quirky Swedish crossover turns out to be a bull’s eye. The factory in Ghent is running at full speed to meet the high demand.

The new Volvo C40 offers everything you would expect from a car from the Swedish brand, especially in terms of safety and assistance systems. All occupants are optimally protected, while the technology is aimed at preventing accidents. But in addition to being safe, a Volvo is also very durable, because it lasts a long time and because Volvo Cars has the most drastic sustainability policy of all car manufacturers in the world.

Big step forward

To make the world more beautiful and cleaner, the help of the consumer is just as much needed. By opting for electric mobility, you are already taking a big step. And with the Volvo C40, that’s a big leap forward. Its coupé-like lines give it a dynamic appearance, combined with the tough, unyielding character that is so characteristic of a Volvo.

In 2030 only electric Volvos

Volvo Cars has the most drastic sustainability policy of any automaker worldwide. By 2025, half of all Volvo cars sold should be electric, by 2030 only new, fully electric cars should roll off the production line and by 2040 Volvo Cars should be a climate neutral company. It is an ambition in which Volvo Cars involves its own chain partners, governments and energy producers.

Clean, quiet power

The Volvo C40 Recharge Twin Pure Electric, as it is called in full, has two electric motors. One drives the front wheels, the other the rear wheels. With a total power of 408 hp, the Volvo C40 sprints from standstill to 100 km/h within five seconds. But that is not even so important, it is mainly the ease with which the car accelerates and the extent to which the same power sources allow the car to slow down and thus recover energy to recharge the battery pack. This way nothing is lost and the brakes are spared.

Volvo: number 1 plug brand in the Netherlands

Volvo plans to launch a whole new line of all-electric cars in the coming years, with at least one electric Volvo launching each year. In the last year, sales of electric models have already doubled to 25% worldwide. Now no less than 50% of Volvo’s sold in the Netherlands are powered entirely electrically or via plug-in hybrid technology. With three fully electric vehicles and 15 plug-in hybrid variants, Volvo is the number 1 ‘plug brand’ in the Netherlands.

The Volvo C40 will be available at the dealer from the end of this year and can be admired and driven at the Volvo Studio in Leidschendam from now on.
