New Ford Maverick is not what it seems

Ford is on the road with the new Maverick and fortunately there is a picture of it. Although these photos can initially cause some confusion.

At first glance, this picture shows a huge SUV / MPV, but that is doubly incorrect. First of all, it is (by American standards) not big and it is also not an SUV. Here is the pick-up that comes under the Ranger in the offer. In all likelihood, the car will be named Maverick. Ford used to put that name on its smallest, of which one was also once delivered in the Netherlands. In the US, the last Maverick was known as the Escape, but now Ford is dusting the Maverick name for the home market.

Although they did their best on camouflage in Michigan, behind the so-called rear side windows there is simply an open cargo bed, not a third row of seats. The Maverick also appeared at the beginning of this year with a huge structure on the back. Then Ford already announced that there will indeed be a model under the Ranger. The car reportedly shares its base with the all-new Bronco Sport. He may get a similar nose, but at least under the hood we expect a familiar story. The Bronco Sport has both the 1.5-liter EcoBoost as well-known here in the Netherlands as the 2.0-liter EcoBoost on the order list. Again fairly modest for American standards, but just like the Bronco Sport, we do not have to expect a European market introduction.
