New Honda Civic can already be seen extensively

Honda is working hard on a successor to the current Civic. Thanks to attentive Civic adepts from forum Civic11, we can see the all-new eleventh-generation Civic from all angles.

The current generation Honda Civic was introduced to the US market in 2015 and was in European showrooms a year later. That tenth generation Civic is only available as a Hatchback and if there is a very similar Sedan, in the United States there is also a Coupé version on the menu. Although the current Civic with all its sharp folds and clean lines is still quite eccentric for the day, Honda already has a successor in the development rooms.

This comprehensive set of patent plates not only features the new Civic Hatchback, but also the new Civic Sedan. Based on previous spyshots of the new Civic Type-R, we could already conclude that Honda is sticking to the basic shape of the hatchback. These design drawings confirm that the new Honda Civic is broadly similar to the current model, but a lot is changing in terms of design.

Civic Hatchback

For example, Honda pours the eleventh-generation Civic with a much more restrained design sauce. The front, with its more subtly designed grille and larger, wider headlights, may look less pronounced, but more mature. The front of the new Civic is very reminiscent of the current Accord. The lines on the sides are also a lot quieter. The ascending shoulder line that currently starts at the rear door, moves a bit to the back and that makes the arrival of a third side window possible. The rear of the Hatchback has been stripped of the rear window divided into two parts by the rear spoiler. The boomerang-shaped taillights must also clear the field. Instead, the Civic Hatchback gets relatively simple taillights that are connected by an LED strip. With a little imagination, the whole is reminiscent of the rear light part of the Kia Stinger. Not only the lighting has calmed down in terms of design, the bumper work of the new Civic Hatchback also looks a lot more restrained.

Where the current Civic Sedan still strongly resembles the Civic Hatcback, the sedan version of the new Civic gets a more individual look. At least, an appearance that distinguishes itself more from its hatchback brother. The rear is just like the front of the new generation Civic very similar to the current Honda Accord. Unlike that Accord, the Civic Sedan also has to do without the C- / boomerang-shaped rear lights. Instead, the Civic Sedan gets slightly interchangeable, but above all quieter-looking lighting that extends into the tailgate.

It is not yet clear when Honda will present the new Civic to daylight. We do not expect the new-generation Civic to be on the market before 2021. There is no doubt that the new Civic Hatchback will also have a fierce Type-R. Successful Progress or Disastrous Decline?
